Invercargill resigns sister city agreement

Kumagaya mayor Tetsuya Kobayashi and Invercargill mayor Nobby Clark during a tree planting ceremony at Japanese gardens in Queens Park yesterday. A delegation from Invercargill’s sister city, is visiting Invercargill this week to commemorate 30 years since the signing of the sister city agreement.

The agreement was yesterday resigned. Kobayashi said in 1993, his late father visited Invercargill to firstly sign the sister city agreement. ‘‘I would like to pass on to the next generation the valuable assets between our two cities that have been nurtured over the past 30 years, and I would like to continue to make every effort to further develop exchanges between our two cities.’’
