Grants available to boost health of waterways

Community groups are being invited to apply for funding to boost the health of their local waterways. NZ Landcare Trust and Westpac NZ are awarding six grants of $10,000 through the Westpac Watercare Project, to support sustainable initiatives for rivers, lakes, streams and wetlands. The first six grants were handed out late last year, when the Makarewa Headwaters project in Southland was awarded a grant to implement a native planting and pest control programme and create a shared space. Applications are on the Landcare website and close on Wednesday July 5.
