Nurses to examine latest Te Whatu Ora offer

Timaru members of the nurses’ union will stop work for two hours tomorrow to consider the latest offer from Te Whatu Ora. Members of the New Zealand Nurses Organisation Tō pū tanga Tapuhi Kaitiaki o Aotearoa (NZNO) including midwives, healthcare assistants and kaimahi hauora will attend meetings across the country this week to review the offer. They asked for a pay rise matching inflation, currently 6.7%, but Te Whatu Ora’s offer of $4000 this year across all rates and a further 3% next year falls well short of their request. Many members will be seen demonstrating with banners on the way to and from the meetings.
