Primary teachers wait for revised pay offer
Primary school teachers have called off strike action proposed on Wednesday, as they wait for a revised offer from the government. In an email sent to teachers, the NZEI said the Minister of Finance Grant Robertson has agreed to meet with the union tomorrow to discuss the settlement. It expected to receive the terms of the agreement later in the day, to take to teachers on Wednesday. The union said schools may still close on Wednesday afternoon so that staff can attend a paid union meeting. It said if the offer was rejected, union members will be balloted on whether industrial action should resume, with any new strikes starting in midJune at the earliest. - RNZ
