A happy traveller

Thanks to the Waingaro/Glen Massey folk who stopped to assist my bleeding body Monday afternoon November 1 after my mountain bike and I parted company downhill.

The asphalt is very unforgiving but after four days in hospital and two ops I’m progressing nicely. Big ups to the policeman who took me to A&E (ambulances unavailable) plus Debbie who took care of my bike and the ACC nurse who stemmed the claret at the scene. The hospital staff were marvellous as have been the district nurses since I came home.

Apologies for stalling your afternoon activities.

I feel extremely lucky all round.

More generally it refers to prioritisation of medical care as a whole.

‘‘Rations care towards those who are most in need of immediate care, and who benefit most from it’’.

What they are saying is that they will concentrate on those patients that will have the best outcomes with the resources available.

In today’s Covid world that would be the ones that help themselves with double vaccination and a booster shot.

Your choices have consequences, unfortunately in medicine triage is a choice as well. Makes you think aye.
