Be alert for smoke and mirrors

As we edge toward the 2023 general election, the electorate needs to be more discerning of political ‘‘smoke and mirrors.’’

Labour have done some things extremely well, but are dead-in-the-water on other needs. National and ACT are somewhat Trumpian in their noise without substance.

Mr Seymour picks on issues which few would challenge, but hides the fact that ACT (and many National candidates) still believe in the teachings of the late Milton Friedman.

He was the proponent of globalist asset stripping of countries’ sovereign revenue earning departments, and union bashing in support of low wage economies. He achieved this through his student diaspora infiltrating the World Bank, The International Monetary fund (IMF) and the treasuries of many countries.

Roger Douglas and Ruth Richardson were easily hoodwinked.

We now have delays to Te Huia because of badly maintained infrastructure by the one-dollar buyers of our rail assets. Above all, we need to wake up to the undermining of our liberal democracy under the invented guise of treaty partnership.

No such agreement was made. It was a trade of sovereignty for protection as equal citizens. Certainly, there have been great injustices, but dumping democracy is not a safe path to take.
