Faces of an election

Voters have their say

Richard Walker

If you don’t vote, don’t moan. That’s the consensus from people approached this week by the Waikato Times.

Other than that, Three Waters is stirring up some, while misinformation and divisions in society are worrying others. Also rate rises, of course – it would hardly be an election without the cost of rates playing a part, especially with an extra inflationary kick at the moment.

Some of those spoken to have already voted, some just have to post the form, others are mulling their options.

With a week to go, they shared their views of the candidates and issues.

Among them, Ngāruawāhia resident Ian Wilson says growth isn’t the be-all and end-all when people are still living in poverty.

And then there’s that third bridge in Cambridge.

When’s that going to see the light of day, ask locals Kevin Vagg and Phil Cubis over a beer at the Prince Albert.
