MP’s eyes on WEL

Outgoing Hamilton East Labour MP Jamie Strange is set to contest the WEL Energy Trust election on the ‘‘Yes to Discounts – Invest in Community’’ ticket. The triennial elections have 25 candidates vying for seven seats. The WEL Energy Trust allocates the profits of WEL – the Waikato lines company – throughout the community in the form of grants and discounts. Voting documents will be delivered to eligible residents in the WEL electoral boundary area from Friday, with the mailin ballot ending on June 26.
