House fire

A 22-year-old man will appear in the Hamilton District Court after a family harm incident and several arsons in the Ōtorohanga area. Police were called to a family harm incident in Ōtorohanga yesterday morning, before attending a house fire in a different location. Subsequently, a man has been arrested and charged with a number of arson and violence charges. Police were called to a house fire at a Gradara Ave address around 2.15am. When firefighters arrived the house was well ablaze, Fire and Emergency shift manager Michael Anderson said. They had crews from Ōtorohanga, Te Kūiti, Te Awamutu and Hamilton attend and it took just over two hours to extinguish. “Everyone has been accounted for.” A fire investigator attended the scene.
