Telephone Rd closing
Waka Kotahi will put up fixed closed signs on SH1B Telephone Rd crossing to save money while a long-term decision on the road is decided. The railway crossing was closed due to safety concerns in April 2022 and temporary signage has been in place to direct traffic around the detour of Holland, Waverley and Seddon Rds. Waka Kotahi’s acting regional manager Roger Brady said most road users have become familiar with the route around the closed railway crossing. “Temporary detour signs come with an ongoing monthly cost as contractors are required to drive the route every couple of days to check and replace any damaged signs.
