You’ve been Robbed: All the political moves

The Post in

Senior visual journalist Robert Kitchin, who works for the political gallery at Parliament, offers insight into his favourite photo of the week.

What a whirlwind of a week! The final remnants of the old regime have now been removed and the final stages of the big move are coming to an end. The sheer logistics of moving outgoing ministers and MPs offices from the Beehive to the Opposition side in Parliament House is mind-boggling. Areas all over both buildings are temporary storage facilities for old computer screens, used cardboard boxes, and enough cabling to put the National Power Grid to shame. Many Parliamentary staffers were seen moving more delicate and personal items from the offices before the professionals took charge. Moving company staff were mobilised en masse on the day the government coalition agreement was signed, and haven't stopped since. As well there have been a lot of smiling faces among the MPs who have moved from the square building to the round one this week. All that's needed now is a quick vacuum, some personalisation of offices and the Government should be settled in to make decisions on New Zealand's behalf.
