Person hurt in house fire

One person was taken to hospital in a serious condition after a house fire in New Plymouth on Thursday. Fire and Emergency New Zealand staff were called to a home in Fitzroy about 8pm, after a fire broke out in the kitchen. FENZ central shift communications manager Murray Dunbar said a crew were at the scene for about 30 minutes. A St John spokesperson said one person was taken by ambulance to Taranaki Base Hospital in a serious condition.
