Carter’s boots help kids
Rugby boots worn by former All Black Dan Carter during his 24-hour kickathon fundraising effort last month are being auctioned for charity. Carter, made 1598 goals during the kickathon, raising more than $370,000. He attempted 1637 shots at goal, making 98%. Money raised at that event was to support Unicef’s water, sanitation and hygiene programme for 134,000 children in Kiribati, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. All funds from the boots auction on eBay will go towards the DC10 Fund, a partnership with Unicef. Bidding for Carter’s limited-edition gold Adidas Predator boots was at NZ$2877 yesterday.
