Range of skills

Whoever is selected to become the new chief executive of Christchurch City Council must have a range of skills and abilities well beyond being fiscally responsible, a quality highlighted by Mike Yardley (Council needs a staunch fiscal disciplinarian who is local ,Nov 28).

Cleaning up the toxic mess at council following the departure of Dawn Baxendale will require motivated, committed and welltrained staff from the top down. Establishing trust and good will within the council itself, as well as reaching out to reassure disillusioned ratepayers, are key components for anyone intending to apply for the role of chief executive.
