A series of fronts pass across most of the country, while a ridge of high pressure begins to build over the lower South Island. A low clears the North Island early Monday, while a weakening cold front moves northwards over the upper South Island and the ridge builds in behind it. Another low approaches the upper North Island from the subtropics on Tuesday.
