Jordie stays with Canes

Jordie Barrett will stay with the Hurricanes for another season.

The news comes after the Blues revealed they were not intent on chasing Barrett to join older brother and fellow All Black Beauden in 2022, which all but confirmed Jordie would remain with the Super Rugby franchise he joined in 2017.

While Jordie Barrett, 24, is contracted to NZ Rugby until next year, his previous deal with the Hurricanes expired at the end of the Trans-Tasman competition.

The Hurricanes ended the speculation yesterday when confirming that Barrett had resigned for another season.

‘‘Jordie is an incredibly influential part of the Hurricanes,’’ Hurricanes coach Jason Holland said.

‘‘Off the field he has developed to be one of our key leaders and on the field his skill set is plain for all to see.’’
