Virus rains on Santa parades

The Nelson Santa parade has been postponed and the Golden Bay event called off.

The Nelson City Santa Parade Trust decided to postpone the NBS Nelson Santa Parade due to the current cases of Covid-19 in the Nelson region. Golden Bay organisers said its parade had been cancelled due to difficulty adhering to the new traffic light requirements.

NBS Nelson Santa Parade director Alex Bradley said he was not in a position to release a new date for the parade.

Golden Bay Santa Parade organiser Claire French said the parade had been cancelled due to difficulty managing the event under the new traffic light system that started yesterday.
