Standards lacking
The Broadcasting Standards Authority recently received two complaints regarding Mike Hosking’s interview with the Associate Minister of Health, Dr Ayesha Verrall.
In this interview, Hosking equated the Minister’s responses with the gobbling of a turkey.
The BSA dismissed both complaints. There was nothing wrong with Hosking’s use of a farm animal, synonymous with ignorance and stupidity, to highlight Minister Verrall’s responses.
If the media are genuinely concerned about the increasing bullying, mocking and ridicule of our female leaders, their watchdog authority needs to set a much stronger example.
