GET ON THE WATER
We’re so lucky in Aotearoa that we’re never far away from a big blue space. Research shows that being in or around water has both mental and physical health benefits. Even just seeing a sea view is associated with lower psychological distress. Going sailing, surfing or swimming means you automatically tune into the elements and have to understand the motion of the wind and movement of the water. One of our favourite ways to get on the water this summer is on a stand-up paddleboard. Much easier to balance than a surfboard, less admin than a boat. Hire a board and explore the lakes and oceans, being water-safe of course.
