My favourite discovery of the last year has to be Ahi. Located in downtown Auckland's Commercial Bay, it's a warm and relaxed space that looks out onto the Waitematā Harbour. Specialising in ingredients unique to Aotearoa, one dish that stands out for me is their take on the classic boil up or the “paua boil-up and two minute noodles”, which includes cray broth, crispy pork floss, pekepeke-kiore mushrooms (lion's mane) and watercress. To top it off they play the best selection of music from soul,
reggae and funk.
